Zubin Damania, MD is an internist and founder of Turntable Health, an innovative healthcare startup that’s part of an ambitious urban revitalization movement spearheaded by zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh. During a 10-year hospitalist career at Stanford, Dr. Damania won clinical teaching awards while simultaneously maintaining a shadow career performing stand-up comedy for medical audiences worldwide. His videos, created under the pseudonym ZDoggMD, have gone epidemically viral, educating patients and providers while mercilessly satirizing our dysfunctional healthcare system.

As the CEO and founder of Lifely Insights, Mandi Bishop is bringing life context to healthcare decision-making by applying behavioral economics to epidemiology, helping communities partner with health systems and payors to tailor and optimize population health management program design, care plans, interventions, and engagements. She believes that participatory medicine is a moral imperative, and that there is no value-based care without recognizable value delivered to the very people healthcare exists to serve.
Kaveh Safavi, MD, JD, Accenture
Monday Afternoon Keynote Presenter
Kaveh Safavi, M.D., J.D. is the senior managing director for Accenture’s global healthcare business. Dr. Safavi is responsible for developing and driving a growth strategy that differentiates Accenture’s offerings for providers, health insurers and public and private health systems across the globe.
Dr. Safavi joined Accenture from Cisco, in 2011, where he led the global healthcare practice. Prior to that, he was Thompson Reuter’s chief medical officer of Health Businesses and United Healthcare’s vice president of medical affairs. He also has served in leadership roles at Solucient, Humana, HealthSpring and Alexian Hospital Network.
John Brownstein, PhD, Boston Children’s Hospital
Tuesday Afternoon Keynote Presenter
John Brownstein, Ph.D. is a Professor at Harvard Medical School and is the Chief Innovation Officer of Boston Children’s Hospital. He also directs the Computational Epidemiology Group at the Children’s Hospital Informatics Program in Boston. He was trained as an epidemiologist at Yale University. Overall, his research agenda aims to have translation impact on the surveillance, control and prevention of disease. He has been at the forefront of the development and application of public health surveillance including HealthMap.org, an internet-based global infectious disease intelligence system. The system is in use by millions each year including the CDC, WHO, DHS, DOD, HHS, and EU, and has been recognized by the National Library of Congress and the Smithsonian.
